The Admissions Season for the 2012-2013 academic year at New Mexico School for the Arts has now begun!
All applications are due to NMSA by January 13, 2012!!
Here are the steps for submitting an application:
1. Submit an inquiry
Submit an inquiry if you are considering applying to NMSA for the 2012-2013 school year as an incoming Grade 9, 10 or 11 student. The inquiry form (Form A) provides needed information to keep you updated throughout the process. This form is available for you to complete on the NMSA website in either on-line (preferable) or in downloadable formats here.

This 16 page PDF document contains instructions as well as all required application forms.Your application and all required recommendations must be faxed or mailed to NMSA. Application to the residential program takes place after a student has been admitted to NMSA and requires a separate document.

Talk to your parent or guardian about your desire to attend NMSA. Print the Parent/Guardian Statement, have them complete, sign and date it, and send it to NMSA. See Appendix C.
Print and have your parent or guardian sign the Recommendation of an Arts Instructor and Principal/Guidance Counselor/Teacher forms. See Appendices D and E.
Approach an arts instructor from in or out of school, and let him or her know that you will be applying to NMSA. Ask this adult to complete, sign and mail or fax the appropriate Recommendation Forms by January 13, 2012. See Appendix D.
Approach your principal, guidance counselor or a teacher. Ask this adult to complete, sign and mail or fax the appropriate Recommendation Forms by January 13, 2012. See Appendix E. (Home-schooled students do not need to submit this piece of the Application).
Complete the Application including your Essay and fax or mail it to NMSA by January 13, 2012. See Appendices B & C. Essays may also be emailed to JPotts@NMSchoolForTheArts.org.
3. Attend the audition/portfolio review
Attend the audition/portfolio review if you are invited to do so (see Admission Criteria/Process above). Everything About Auditions/Portfolio Reviews
Applicants will normally be notified as soon as possible, in the order in which their applications were received, and no later than January 30, 2012. Auditions / portfolio reviews will be held at New Mexico School for the Arts, 275 East Alameda, Santa Fe, NM on February 11 and 18, 2012. Dance Auditions will occur on February 12, 2012 at the National Dance Institute – NM, 1140 Alto Street, Santa Fe, NM. We look forward to meeting you!
4. Acceptance/Notification
You will be informed by March 15, 2012 if you have been accepted to the New Mexico School for the Arts. If you have been accepted, you must inform the School of your decision by March 30, 2012.
