The purpose of the New Mexico School for the Arts is to provide the highest standards of excellence in preparing New Mexico’s artistically talented students to compete in the national arena for post-secondary education and/or professional careers in the arts. NMSA will offer pre-professional instruction in the performing and visual arts in combination with rigorous academics leading to a New Mexico diploma.

The academic courses will comply with NMPED (New Mexico Public Education Department) standards to ensure every child meets the requirements for an high school diploma. The specific academic courses a NMSA student may take in a given year will be highly dependent on what level they have achieved in their schooling prior to enrollment at NMSA.
