NMSA is a public/private partnership comprised of a state charter high school, and a nonprofit arts educational institution. The New Mexico School for the Arts Charter School and Art Institute have agreed to affiliate, collaborate and coordinate their governance, administration and curriculum in order to give New Mexico students who demonstrate exceptional promise, aptitude and passion for the arts the opportunity to excel in the arts while earning a New Mexico high school diploma.

New Mexico School for the Arts Charter School, Governing Council
The New Mexico School for the Arts is a state charter high school. It will operate in accordance with the New Mexico Charter Schools Act and its charter issued by the New Mexico State Public Education Commission. The Governing Council of the New Mexico School for the Arts is responsible for its operations and has the power to carry out its educational mission. The New Mexico School for the Arts – Art Institute is a nonprofit arts educational institution. It will operate in accordance with the purposes set forth in its Articles of Incorporation and the New Mexico Nonprofit Corporation Act.
