School for the Arts – NM
School for the Arts – NM is a New Mexico nonprofit arts education institution created as a partner organization to NMSA to provide: intensive pre-professional and professional arts instruction; outreach through master classes and arts enrichment programs in communities around the state; and housing and food service for residential students. Art instruction will be taught through an extensive guest artist program and will call on practicing artists from four artistic disciplines: music (voice and instrumental), visual arts, dance and theater (including film and creative writing). Practicing artists from time to time might include actors, opera singers, musicians, painters, filmmakers, sculptors and photographers. Typically, practicing artists are not licensed educators, but their instruction and training is vital for students hoping to become masters in their selected art form and to be prepared for both higher education and the professional arts world. In addition, outreach and arts enrichment programs will include intensive art classes and workshops for students and teachers taught by master art teachers and professional artists in communities throughout the state. Please see Workshops/Classes for more information on outreach events. SA-NM must raise the necessary funding to support its activities, including financial aid for eligible students.
