Nutrition Program

Welcome to the 25/26 school year. My name is Chef Mo Thurman and I am the Food Program Director here at NMSA. We are offering free breakfast and lunch this year. We are no longer requiring applications, because we have become a Community Eligibility Program (CEP). Only if your student eats seconds, will there be a charge of $5 for lunch and $3 for breakfast.
For all students with allergies, we need a Dr’s note on file. These will be kept confidential. I will provide alternatives for any allergies or preferences (ex, vegetarians). If your student brings lunch from home, please provide them with silverware to eat with. Our resources are limited in providing silverware for everyone, and I want to limit the use of plasticware.
Cafeteria hours:
Breakfast Mon-Fri 8:30-9am
Lunch Monday 12-12:45pm
Tue-Fri 12-12:40pm
Please review Lunch/Breakfast etiquette with students:
-
Lunch and breakfast are to be eaten in the cafeteria, the paseo, or courtyard only.
-
If you are not eating in the cafeteria, please request a paper tray.
-
Clean messes in the microwave, please. We have sanitation buckets and rags situated at each microwave station.
-
Please be conscious of your silverware. Make sure it makes it to the bus tubs and that it does not end up in the garbage.
-
To reduce food waste, we have a Share Fridge. Any uneaten packaged food or milk can go into that fridge, to be eaten later or for another student. If cold food is brought from home, we can hold it in the kitchen.
May your belly and heart always be full,
