Parent Night at NMSA: Drug & Alcohol Awareness and Prevention

A special presentation on Drug & Alcohol Awareness and Prevention for parents and families.
A guest presenter from the Santa Fe Community Guidance Center will cover a wide range of topics regarding this important subject as a means of educating and supporting families.

Some topics that will be covered include:
-Statistics, national and local, regarding teenage use of mind-altering substances
-Education on the effects of various substances, including their impact on interpersonal relationships and school performance
-Signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol use/abuse
-Ideas for approaching your teen about possible drug use/abuse/dealing/medical
-School Policy on drug/alcohol use at school and expected disciplinary consequences
-Ways to help educate and prevent your teen, and their peers, from taking dangerous risks regarding mind-altering substances, including short and long-term effects on brain and body functions.
-Q & A to follow

We highly encourage you to attend this special evening to educate yourself on the current situation regarding controlled substances, which are becoming increasingly available and widespread across the country.
