Joe Price of the University of Minnesota and Guthrie Theater Visits NMSA to Hold Public Audition Workshops

(September 24, 2014) SANTA FE — In late October, guest artist Joe Price, Program Director for the U of MN/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program at the prestigious University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater, will be visiting the New Mexico School for the Arts and presenting two workshops on auditioning for college and conservatory theater programs.  The workshops will be free and open to the public, available to any and all interested students and parents. NMSA hosts Guest Artist visits throughout the school year, and continuously strives to expand the reach of the program out into the community, involving interested residents in the arts as much as possible

On Monday, October 27, Price’s presentation to interested students and parents from around the city will be at 6:00pm in the Large Rehearsal Hall at NMSA, 275 E. Alameda St. in Santa Fe.

On Tuesday afternoon, October 28 Price will be presenting to the entire Theatre Department at NMSA, at 2:15pm.  This presentation will also be open to the general public.

Founded in 1963, the Guthrie Theater is an American center for theater performance, production, education and professional training, and has become renowned as an innovative performance space for both modern and classical theater.

The University of Minnesota’s partnership with the Guthrie Theater offers a unique undergraduate training curriculum, which leads to a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree. The program combines a core of theatre courses with a full liberal arts curriculum, merging the University of Minnesota’s academics with the world of professional theatre. The audition process for this program and others like it will be addressed by Price.
