New Mexico School for the Arts Santa Clara Student Selected as Ambassador to White House Tribal Nations Conference

(December 1, 2014) Santa Fe, New Mexico – The New Mexico School for the Arts (NMSA) is deeply honored and proud to announce that NMSA student Kayleigh Warren has been selected to serve as the Santa Clara Pueblo Tribal Youth Ambassador at the 2014 Tribal Nations Conference, which will be held at the White House in Washington, DC, December 1-3, 2014.

Ms. Warren, an outstanding NMSA student, will be accompanied by the Santa Clara Pueblo Governor, J. Michael Chavarria, as they represent the concerns of the Santa Clara Pueblo and of Native Peoples at the Conference, which has invited all 566 federally recognized tribes to join with the White House council in open dialogue. Youth programming will consist of workshops and sessions addressing the issues of the younger generation of tribal members. Ms. Warren and other youth representatives will have the opportunity to participate in this dialogue alongside their tribal leaders.

Governor Chavarria stated, “Young innovative leaders such as Kayleigh will ensure the sustainability of our generations, and exemplify the benefits of blending traditional and academic teachings.” NMSA faculty, staff, and students warmly congratulate Ms. Warren on her selection for this important task.

NMSA is now accepting applications for school year 2014-2015. The application cycle closes in mid-January, and information on admission policies and the application process can be found on its web site, www.NMSchoolForTheArts.org.
