Convergence: A Dynamic Exhibition Uniting Visual Art and Poetry

“Convergence II,” a dynamic exhibition uniting visual art and poetry, opens Friday, January 31, 2025 at the Thaw Visual Arts Gallery at NMSA. The event runs from 5 to 7 pm with special remarks at 5:15 pm and a poetry reading from 5:30 to 6:00 pm.

The “Convergence II” exhibition and accompanying professionally printed and bound publication spotlight the collaborative work of NMSA-Art Institute’s Visual Arts and Creative Writing & Literature Departments. Featuring 30 original artworks and 30 poems created by students, the project pairs visual and literary works in a powerful call-and-response format, showcasing the interplay between artistic mediums.

The exhibition and publication are made possible through the generous underwriting of RiskPress Foundation and its partners, Charlie Pendergast and Kevin Connor, whose support sparked a semester-long collaboration culminating in this second iteration of “Convergence.”

The 2024 “Convergence II” publication will be available for purchase at the event for $25 (cash, check, or card). A limited number of the 2022 version will also be available for $20.
