This special week—designed by our Creative Writing and Literature Chair, Santana Shorty—offered students the chance to explore their creativity freely, without the usual focus on grades. Each day during the week of October 7 – 11th featured relaxed, rejuvenating activities designed to let our students’ artistry shine. Students visited the Vladem New Mexico Contemporary Museum, where they wrote ekphrastic poetry inspired by the exhibits, crafted clay sculptures, experimented with fiber arts, and enjoyed a Craft Day of scrapbooking. The week concluded with an Open Mic performance, where students showcased their work in a supportive, celebratory environment.
