From Seasonal Stages to All-State Performances

Students Bring Music to the Holiday Season
In December, NMSA music students showcased their talent in a variety of performances across Santa Fe:

  • Strings + Song + Dance at St. Francis Auditorium: The annual collaborative concert with the Dance Department featured a mix of choreography and musical performances in the historic St. Francis Auditorium.
  • Winter Concert at NMSA’s Zane Bennett Gathering Space: Students performed a seasonal concert for the community, highlighting their progress and talent.
  • Violin Ensemble at “Holidays at the Palace”: The Violin Ensemble performed holiday favorites as part of the annual “Holidays at the Palace” event at the Palace of the Governors.
  • Guitar Ensemble at “Holiday Stroll”: The Guitar Ensemble entertained shoppers and families with festive music during the annual “Holiday Stroll” at the DeVargas Center Mall.

These events offered students the opportunity to share their work with the community and celebrate the season through music.

From Seasonal Performances to All-State Performances
Thirty talented Music students are headed to the NM Music Educators Association Concert All-State Conference, where they’ll spend three days rehearsing with a nationally renowned conductor before taking the stage at Popejoy Hall on January 11. Vocalists, guitarists, violinists, violists, bassists, percussionists, and clarinetists will represent NMSA in the All-State Choir, Orchestras, Guitar Ensemble, and Concert Band. In addition, four percussionists and one guitarist earned spots in the highly competitive Jazz All-State Conference, which takes place on January 26 at UNM.
