Message from the Art Institute President, Cindy Montoya and Head of School, Eric Crites

Best Wishes for a Healthy and Happy New Year!

Art is all you need!

Dear Friends:

We look back on 2021 with appreciation and relief. We made it! We look forward to a productive and positive 2022!

We remain grateful to you for supporting NMSA’s arts, community engagement, and residential programs. Because of all of you, we continue to provide a mastery arts education for New Mexico’s young artist-scholars, helping them reach their educational and artistic goals!

Like all of you, we continue to monitor and respond to the pandemic to ensure the safety of our students and staff so in-person learning is not disrupted.

We can’t wait to enjoy performances and exhibitions with all of you in person! Until then our students continue to make art. You can look forward to a February virtual Winter Dances performance–more information coming soon. Mark your calendars for ArtSpring 2022—set for May 21 and 22! Our annual student showcase will take place at our beautiful new campus.

At NMSA, our focus has always been on access for young artists with promise, aptitude, and talent in the arts from across New Mexico. Today, that mission is more vital, and we’re more resolved, than ever to achieve it. Students, staff, administrations, and board members are learning together how best to work and collaborate on removing barriers and creating greater equity.

We appreciate the commitment you continually make to a brighter future by prioritizing the learning and growth of NMSA’s students. Thank YOU!

We wish you and yours a happy and healthy start to the New Year.

Continually grateful,

Cindy Montoya, President                         Eric Crites, Head of School

PS. Check out this amazing video of our Visual Art Department students working directly with artist Joanna Keane Lopez on an adobe brick-building project at SITE Santa Fe in late October 2021! The students clearly state the value of project-based learning in their commentary in this short video: https://vimeo.com/651194085
