New Mexico School for the Arts Dance and Visual Arts Departments present RITE OF WAY –A Site-Specific Performance at Santa Fe Railyard

(September 25, 2013) Santa Fe, NM – Rite of Way, an exciting, site-specific performance will be performed on October 25 and 26 at 7 p.m. at Santa Fe Railyard.  Performance entrance is at the Water Tower.  This event is free and open to the public.

Performed and co-created by 31 NMSA Dance Department students and 17 NMSA Visual Arts students, Rite of Way marks NMSA’s second annual Inside/Out performance series. Inside/Out is a community-centered series of site-specific performances staged in Santa Fe’s communal spaces and connects student artists with our vibrant communities in innovative and public ways.

This year’s Rite of Way is the creative expression of students’ ongoing research into the history of Santa Fe and its railroads. Rite of Way explores the impact of the railroad in this region and the effects of industry and consumerism on our local cultures. Communities’ stories about the railroad and its impact on life in Santa Fe will be thematically woven into this mobile, thought-provoking, and layered evening work.
