(January 5, 2015) Santa Fe, NM – The New Mexico School for the Arts will present its annual performance series, Winter Dances, an evening of mixed dance repertoire, at two venues: the James A. Little Theater, New Mexico School for the Deaf (1060 Cerrillos Road, Santa Fe, NM) on Friday and Saturday, January 23rd and 24th at 7:00PM, and on Sunday, January 25th at 2:00PM, and at the Hiland Theater of NDI-NM (4800 Central Avenue SE, Albuquerque, NM) on Saturday, January 31st at 7:00PM and Sunday, February 1st at 2:30PM. The fifth annual Winter Dances will delight audiences, as New Mexico’s finest young dancers perform:
- The Rally from Quarry by the legendary Meredith Monk
- The Huddle by post-modern dance pioneer Simone Forti
- CLASH, choreographed by NMSA Department Chair Adam McKinney
- A Trick of the Light, a contemporary work by Las Cruces native Joshua Peugh (staged by Los Angeles-based contemporary dance company BODYTRAFFIC), and
- Not Another Nutcracker, a mixture of classical ballet and contemporary choreography set to music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Duke Ellington
